Palak Chicken Curry


  1. 1 bunch spinach chopped1 pound chicken
  2. Oil
  3. 8 black peppercorns
  4. 2 bay leaves
  5. 8 cloves
  6. 5 green cardamom
  7. 2 onions chopped
  8. 4 green chillies chopped
  9. 8 garlic pods chopped
  10. 1 inch ginger chopped
  11. 2 tbsp cumin coriander powder
  12. 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  13.  1 tsp turmeric powder
  14.  1 tsp garam masala
  15.  5 tbsp curd
  16.  salt as per taste



  1. Wash and finely chop spinach, chop onion, ginger and garlic and keep into a different bowl.
  2. Heat oil in a thick vessel, add peppercorns, bay leaves, cloves, cardamoms and mix for a minute.
  3. Add finely chopped onions, green chillies, ginger and garlic and mix it till onions turn light brown.
  4. Add chicken pieces, caraway powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and Salt as per your taste.
  5. Stir for a minute, add one tablespoon of curd. Stir-fry for a minute, add one more tablespoon of curd.
  • Repeat this till all the yogurt has been used up and the chicken turns light brown.
  • Add spinach and a little more salt for taste.
  • Mix well and  fry till the spinach gets well mashed. Cover and cook till the chicken is soft .
  1. Remove the cover, add garam masala powder and cook till the gravy is thick.
  2. Serve hot.
